Excerpt from GIA report:
This is in reoponse to the questions about the significance of the 29.26cts cushion sugarloag cabochon natural star sapphire, described on GIA report 1199976995. The Country of Origin is Burma (Myanmar)
The trace element chemistry analysis indicated moderate concentrations of iron and titanium, which are the primary color causing agents for a highly saturated blue color known in the trade as Royal Blue, as well as very minute quantities of chromium. Such a chemical profile is characteristic of sapphires from Burma (Myanmar).
A very important aspect of this sapphire is that it has not been subjected to heat treatment. This is evidenced by unaltered inclusions and other spectroscopic features. The intact inclusions are typical of untreated Burmese sapphire. The most characteristics are exsolved rutile taking on the morphology of needles and thin films.
The coloring and physicla properties of this sapphire are very distintive as is the expert cutting that brins out is exclusivity. Fine, gem-quality sapphires of over 25 carats can be considered scarce. The combination of Burma origin, the higly saturated blue color, high degree of transparency, displaying asterism and no indications of heating make this a truly notable gemstone.
