Steady rise in Engagement Ring sales.

According to the popular wedding resource "The Knot", there is an 11% rise in the average spending on engagement rings in the US from 2013.

The Knot polled more than 12,000 brides and 1,200 grooms in the US who were either married or engaged between 2014 and 2015.

The average spending on a ring increased to $5,978 per ring, as per the Jewelry & Engagement Study.

About 68 percent of the women knew how much their husbands-to-be spent on the rings, under which 34% had a general idea and the other 34% knew the exact cost.

Men took around 4.8 months to research the ring and 3.6 months to find the right one, visiting around 5 retailers and looking at around 25 rings.

"Believe it or not, brides are taking an active role in their engagement, too. In fact, more brides than ever are researching what they want in a ring and dropping hints to their husband-to-be. Our study even reveals that a majority of brides know the cost of their engagement ring" according to Kellie Gould, editor in chief of The Knot.

It has been researched that 63% were given a round diamond center stone with side stones and 21% got diamond solitaires. The most popular cut is round.

As usual, men preferred quality over quantity with 85% stating they prefer a smaller but better stone. Brides however like to stand out and 33% wanted a non-traditional shape.

Most brides received a new ring however 11% got an heirloom like Princess Kate. Only 3% got a vintage piece.

Most agreed that having diamonds in the piece is essential.

This is good news for retailers, stock up on those engagement rings and you might make some additional $$$'s.

You can also stand out and choose a fancy color diamond ring with a fancy pink or fancy yellow center stone, as is increasingly popular with celebs.
